Question Life span of a pedal.

I've recently come across a Gibralter double-bass pedal for $300aus and I'm curious as to whether its playability will degrade over time.

I currently own a gibralter double-bass pedal circa '92 that I purchased second hand, so I'm not sure what it felt like as new. I do know however, that right now it feels like crap!

The new one, feels a lot more akin to todays DW's and Pearls, so at the mo' I'm thinking Bargain! But I'm unsure as to whether or not this shop-bought luster will be short-lived.

Twin side beaters, double chain, the whole thing looks pretty tidy and, if nothing else, gibralters' reputation is for sturdiness.

So what do we think fella's. Should I put this on the birthday list or what?
