| I just finished stripping the wrap off an old Ludwig bass drum. American drums were typically glued completely as opposed to some of the asian sets. I used a heat gun (carefully), and putty knife. Then stripper and sanding to remove the glue residue. If you broke off some of the wood ply, use some good wood filler to fill it in, then sand it smooth. It will be worth the effort to remove the wrap, I think.
