Also, make sure you clean your cymbals.. obviously it's not going to be as important as technique or what not, but it does make a difference in increasing the life of your cymbals.. dirty cymbals will wear more easily and will be more susceptible to that green stuff forming on your cymbals.. so get a good cleaner or polish and gently scrub away. I use Dunlop cymbal cleaner and it works pretty well.
