Heads touch the shells
Then the rim is layed on the metal ring on teh head and tightened down to the shell(s)
Can buy a dampener, either a ring dampener that just lays on top of the batter head or a little gelly that stick to teh bottom. Can also try a wallet, dunno if that'll necessarily quiet it down, we just do it in band if a snare rings and there's no muffler pad around. As for teh bass drum pedal, ummm lol, it came in peices...? All I can say is look at some pictures of bass drum pedals lol, try figure it out from there.
