| The two main crashes i use side by side are 16" AAX stage and 16" A Custom crash.
The A's you know the sound of already, they are great, nice sounding rock cymbals. Because i play a variety of stuff is the reason i also use the AAX and between them i cover the material i play. I like the contrast between them and played together they sound great. I also use my 21" Zildjian A sweet ride as a crash for a bigger crash sound and it is more AAX sounding. The AAX certainly is suitable for rock, but has a shimmer to it unlike the A custom. I would say more like a paiste Signature than anything, it's nice i like it. Would probally opt for Sigs if i ever were to replace these.
The two different crashes give me flexibility, the A custom being a bit stronger and brighter, the AAX more musical, both cut through nicely and speak nicely when played.
The AAX hi hats look good as all purpose too, sorry haven't tried them which is what you need to do if possible. Whether they blend with what you use is really up to your ears, best help i can give. Perhaps try the sound files the manufacturers have to give an idea.
