Do not have teenagers without a copy
In my country we have a site for seliing and buying similar to EBay. Now i have a heap of cymbals, but trouble is some don't get used as often as they should, so at times you have to be a bit ruthless and realistic and let some go.
After years of playing and ecperimenting you tend to collect a few cymbals as a drummer. There is nothing wrong with what i have, just process of elimination gets you to your own sound.
I sold today two great cymbals, a 17" 2002 Paiste med crash and a 14" Paiste Signature full crash today. The money from the sales will go toward a set of signature hi hats, i'm toying with sound edge. So end result is turning excess things into useful things. My current hihats 2002's, then become a practice set or for that gig i need them on. I also have the option to use the 2002 top and sig bottom for a different sound.
Currently in my regular set up i am using hihats, two crashes and a ride. I have a splash and a china for when i need them, and a variety of different crashes from dark to bright to chop and change with the above or add in if i want to hide myself and be noisy.
I am human and like all drummers, love hitting things, especially musical cymbals but i have learnt less is more at times. By keeping the cymbals down on a gig, i do play better, less busy, and more focused.
