i was originally a person who thought electronic drums were evil, but living in an apartment i figure it's my best option for practicing and not having my neighbors kill me.

So....

if i'm only going to be practicing on it does it really need to be a name brand model? what should i look for? i've seen a lot of crappy looking kits on ebay for cheap.

my funds are tight so the eventual purchase of another accoustic kit is the goal but it's not going to happen anytime soon. so other than sounding fake, what are some thoughts on electric sets for playing out in small stages? how to you amp it?

suggest something, i don't know where to start.
