It all depends on how in-depth your practice is. We don't get many brands down under, but I've tried out Legend, Yamaha and Roland and here's my verdict.

Roland, Top 'o da line so it's probably more money than you wanna spend on a practice kit.

Legend, can hold a beat but, their brains are not too good. Try to do a fast roll and the damn thing can't keep up. They're real cheap so maybe you'd like to turn it on for beat work, and just use the pads for stick work.

Yamaha. The cheapest set DTX-plorer III, is a good little set. Doesn't have all the features of a roland, but it can keep up with you and it's got everything you need to get going. From there it's all the same as roland.
