Unhappy Double Bass Pedal Problems - Advice Needed Badly

Hey guys,

So in the past, as i can remember, my DB pedals worked fine for me. But since I just recently came back from summer vacation (all through which I didn't get a single opportunity to play drums), my pedals felt very weird. I couldn't get them to feel right. Since my legs are very long, my throne is set pretty high, and I sit under a cushion that is fixed onto the throne so that my legs are high enough off the ground. And I just can't get it right! I mean, when make the tension loose, the pedal beaters are set very far away from the bass drum head, but when i rest my foot on the pedals, the beaters are already practically touching the head! And when I tighten the tension a little, its not as bad, but i can't seem to get the pedals to have equal tension (well, not really equal; since the Pacific Drums by DW pedals I own has slave pedal footplate very high because of the poor spring/cam construction, and other reasons, the right pedal tension has to be slightly higher than the left footplate's). So, any ideas or helpful suggestions? I mean, is the problem with the way/how high I'm sitting? Or is it the way I'm positioning my feet? Or is it the fact that I'm having trouble tuning it? Or is it the pedal; maybe if i purchased a new and better one, adjusting it to the way I want it to be? Please help; any help would be appreciated, because i've never really had this problem before and it's really frustrating.
