Re: Im new from Cincinnati

Congratulations on having the huevos to actually pursue your dream! I'm sure you will have a great time drumming. A few words of advice...1) Don't allow yourself to get frustrated. What you are attempting is not easy! It requires a great deal of independence between your limbs. This will come with time and increases in muscle memory. 2) Practice regularly. It's better to put in a few minutes every day than to try to practice a long time one day with a long gap until your next practice session. 3) Make sure that your teacher puts an emphasis on working your hands, i.e., rudiments. 4) MOST IMPORTANT: Have fun. If it ain't fun, you're wasting your time (although sometimes those practice sessions will have you questioning whether it's fun or not...don't worry, you'll get there). 5) Ask questions. You have a lot of catching up to do with these youngsters here.
Keep us all updated on your progress.
Play On.
