I would have to agree with Rockjazz that investing more in the cymbals upfront, even if it means buying slightly cheaper shells and hardware, may make you happier with our sound. There are very few kits that can't be made to sound decent with good heads and proper tuning, but once you buy a cymbal you're stuck with it as is.
