What I would do if I had a grand for a new set is save up another 500 bucks. The problem is if you want to upgrade to a better set, you should a least go for a semi-pro to a pro kit and they run from $1300 to $1500. If you like your swingstar, you cant go wrong with a Starclassic performer. I got the first year of these sets back in 97. After 4 US tours and tons of time in the studio there still awesome. I'm saving up for the new bubinga starclassics.
