Re: Drum Racks

I'm in a very similar position friend. 7 peice, double bass pearl export. I used to use gibralter. Good quality, very sturdy, but it took forever to setup and tear down, so I traded in for some stands and clamped arms.

Then I discovered the pearl dr-80. Very simple design, no risk of clamps slipping (unlike the round gibralter). Very cheap, lightweight, and when the shows over, you just take everything off, fold it up and throw it in the car. It's the best hardware purchase I've made by far. The four clamps that come with it will only clamp pearl stands, so that will cover your tom holders, but the icon clamps are only ten bucks extra and they will clamp anything.

Don't be fooled into buying the add on if you have a double-bass kit. I use the standard three section unit and it works just fine.

As for your hi-hat issues, i'd seriously think about getting a remote stand. You can put the hats and the pedal anywhere.

Look back soon and I'll post some photos for you.
