Re: where to keep your drum kit?

The best environment for your kit is indoors... normal living space.
Temperature will cause damage over time... But just try to minimize the risk. If say the temperature were going to fluctuate daily 30-40 degrees and you keep your drum heads pretty tight under tension you might want to reconsider... or at least leave the hardware set up and bring the drums out as necessary.

Find some closet space to stack them... Stacking isn't the best thing for your drums or drum heads but it beats daily temperature raises/lowers.

Keeping them in a garage also increases risk of things crawling into your gear or inside of a shell... More dirt/dust.... Higher exposure to rust etc.... You run the risk of ruining your hardware as well.

I treat my drums like furniture... expose them to the elements at a minimum... Shoot I feel bad if they sit in the garage overnight from a gig and I am too tired to bring them in.
