The danmar slam patch is esentially a piece of plastic you stick to your drum head to make it sound like your hitting it with plastic beater. So hitting plastic with plastic is alwyas going to give you rattles. You're either going to have to use felt beaters, or I'd suggest replacing the pad with a thick canvas style patch. You should get the old metal thud with your plastic beater (like I do) and then turn them around for some versaltility.
