Truth be known, I hated my car when I bought it. My previous car broke down and I was without a ride. I knew a friend that had just crashed his Avenger and was only lookin' for $800. I told him if he took payments on it (considering my rough spot) I'd give him a grand for it. I bought it, and despised it. I liked the interior layout because it's identical to the Eclipse/Talon dash config (with the exception of the console), and the look of the car was nice, but it handled like hell, and was slow as death. Plus the size of the cabin was huge. It made me feel like I was very far away from things, and not in an enjoyable environment. So I was down in the dumps about losing my fast car, losing my apartment, losing my job, and losing my girlfriend at the time... now I'm stuck in some slowass hunk of crap I didn't want in the first place... I may as well make it more fun. So I started buying some things that I wanted it to have. After a week I had already dumped over $600 in repars to it, and tossed a $3000 stereo in her. Then I realized it had no voltage gague (semi important when running 3200 watts from two amps and a line driver to 8 speakers and a humongus sub), so I had the inventor of the triple gauge pod create on for my car and paint it to match the interior. Now I had two more options for things to monitor. Hence my Volts, Vacuum, and Oil Temp gagues.
Since then I've gotten pretty carried away with my super air flow converter, auto timer, and some other fun gadgets, but hey... I'm in my car more than I am home... so I might as well transform my car into something I find comfortable.
As far as your car choices... I deeply understand about being in a car you don't necessarily love. This Avenger is my 9th vehicle that I've owned outright. Among all of my friends, we've been through a ton of vehicles. Most of my friends have always had faster cars, so I've always just known how to upgrade what I have to keep up with those guys. The RX-7's you're looking for are hopefully 3rd gens... anything older than that and you're better off with your LeSabre. I drove a 2.8L LeSabre around for quite some time... damn thing used to vapor lock and make me walk the rest of the way to work, lol. Actually, that's no better than the RX-7's vapor lock issue I guess. | ...2.8l? Never heard of one, 3.8 yes. And why instead of dropping so much into the avenger...just get something else? I'd rather have a car I liked than have one I don't and attempt to make it nice/so I like it. What kinda car you have before the avenger anyways?
And no, I love my lesabre, just wish the engine was more efficient :P Roomy and comfy as, well I love the space. Was the lockup cause by the intake manifold? Cause yea, the GM were idiots and used a plastic manifold...bad stuff happened and caused the leak of coolant into the intake area lol. Luckily that hasn't happened to me. |
