It's personal preferance. I play remo heads. As everyone has stated they have a lower, longer tone to them which to me is poetry however, I dirgress. What I did when it was time to buy new heads was went to my local music shop and played any drum that did'nt have the same kind of head. That way I could at least know what to expect when I put them on my kit. Hope this helps.
