Hello, I've played the drums off on for a while now but I still don't know that much about them. I've just recently began to play more seriously

My problem is is that my bass drum is quiet and seems to damp, if i take the sheet out then i think it has too long of a ring

[I've raised the beater higher so that it can hit harder to make it louder and its kind of messing up my timeing but thats the only thing ive tried]

any tips

any insults

any ideas?
