Have you considered trying two ply heads for the resos? I did it once and achieved a pretty fat tone without a lot of overtones. It also prevented me from having to sacrifice tension for tone; they tune low very nicely with about 2-6 turns per lug as opposed to 1/2 to 1 turn per lug.
