I think telling people they suck can be helpful if taken in a constructive way. Difficult to explain, but..........I also think that telling people they are great (when they're not) can be equally wrong. I think we all have something that we say to ourselves, "yeah man, I sucked at that". We only laugh at it now that we are older and a heluva lot wiser. Youth today is so 'oversugercoated' it's sickening, but I think sending people off (young or old) to work on whatever it is they aspire is good. There's no negative, no overpositive, and certainly what harm did we do to them or ourselves? Ok now tell me I suck...............
