Tommatt is on a distinguished road

Wondering what heel-toe technique is.

Today I sat in front of the drums (Actually just taking a break) and thought about what my instructor told me about playing fast repeated hits on the bass. Hes having me play heel up, and we havn't gotten to anything quick so it hasn't come up. Me on the other hand, drum for at least 2 hours a day, and play stuff with fast bass beats at home (And I"ve only had 2 lessons)

Anyways, I just started getting used to heel up after playing heel down, and started practicing how he taught me to do. He told me when I bring my leg up, I hit with the front part of the foot then come down with my leg. So its only one up and down motion with my leg for 2 hits. Getting into a rhythm of 16 notes has been tricky. I can do 3 in a row no problem, at slower speeds, but continuously my leg eventually starts moving all over the foot pedal..

I've heard alot of benifits to learnng heel-toe, but its a pain to learn. Would be nice if thats what I"m learning now when I'm just learning the drums (less habits to break from)
