[Tommatt]

So right now I'm using the pedal that came with my cheapo drums. Not bad, not great, but after playing on 2 different pedals at my instructors house, I just have more controll and power on his (One a pearl, the other i'm not sure, but the footboard is as wide as a boat compared to the pearl one). I"m not looking to spend to much, as Ii'm stll learning, but if I buy something I want it to last me a few years you know? The only way I'd get a double bass is if

A) It wasn't much more without sacrificing quality
B) Playing on a double bass pedal would help me with my high-hat foot technique.

While someday I may get a double pedal, and I do like some metal, its not something I'm interesting in learning right now, or do I see using a whole lot with the musicians I"d currently be playing with (Although I love me some old metallica and can not wait untill I can drum .....And Justice for all)

I'm going to guess I can't go wrong with pearl, but would love any suggestions. (BTW, I'm 27 and have a pretty good job, so feel free to suggest something more pricey if you trully feel its worth the extra money)
