Re: What brand kit do you play and why?

I recently purchased a set of Yamaha Absolute Maple Customs. This includes one 16X18 bass drum, one Yamaha Absolute Maple Custom snare drum, two rack mount toms (10" and 12") and one 14X14 floor tom. I have one set of 13" Zildjian Master Sound hi hats and here is my piece de resistance.......my cymbal set up of which I am proud and with what I am in much love.....

One set of 13" Zildjian Master Sound Hi Hats
One 22" Zildjian Hi Definition Ride Cymbal
One 22" Zildjian Constantinople Medium Thin Low Ride Cymbal
One 21" Zildjian Sweet Ride Cymbal
One 18" Zildjian Crash
One 16" Zildjian Crash
One 10" Paiste Splash

The Sweet Ride is great for crashing as are the Hi Def and the Constantinople.

I love my cymbals forever man!

Why Yamaha? I hate to say it but I must be honest.....because Antonio Sanchez, Peter Erskine, and Dafnis Prieto all use the exact same brand, make, and models and I love each of their sounds. I figure if I can work with them, I can approach the same quality of sound they achieve on their sets. At least if they ever sound bad, I can certainly say that it's not the drums but the drummer (speaking of me of course).

I am about to rent a rehearsal space for a couple of months so that I can shed uninhibitedly (one of the greatest challenges of being a drummer is being able to practice without the complaints of the neighbors or roomates).
