My suggection is get a new head (or set of heads) Like an Aquairian Superkick I, That type of head has a muffling ring built into them and you do not need a pillow or blanket in the kick. I have a 24" Maple kick and I use nothing inside of it and do not have any ringing problems.

New heads work wonders
