Old Yamaha guy here. I have owned 4 Yamaha kits. Custom Tour kit, Club Customs and now I am playing Absolutes and Oak Custom drums. They are IMO a great bang for your dollar. The band I'm in opens for some older major acts in the Boston area and two of the acts were The Beach Boy's and Grand Funk Railroad. Both of those kits were DW's and they sounded great but no better than the Yamaha's.

If you know how to tune a drum any quality drum is going to sound great I don't care who makes it.

If you have the money to spend and want DW's that's great.
