Ipdrummer44 this is SLINGERLAND again I forgot to mention that if you go online go to Dr.Cluck's Music emporium or Sigler music which you usually can find their sets on e-bay, or google it you will find Sonor 2007 sets made of Birch for under $800.00 maybe you can work a deal with them on the hardware as I'm not sure if the sets come with the hardware and cymbals or not I think they just may.Sonor make extremely good sets and you get alot for the money, so if possible try to talk your parents into it. When I first started out I was using cheap cymbals and was playing at Weddings and clubs, it was a while before I bought my first Zildjian cymbal.And you have a ways to go before you do any gigs so concentrate on getting good drums, first and worry about the cymbals later.These 2 companies also carry different name drum sets other than Sonor so look around.
