I think it was mentioned already, but I'll reinforce the need to avoid the bad habit of playing an absurd fill just "because you can" even if it doesn't fit the music. I think it's a phase drummers go through when they learn how to superimpose 5 over 4 or some other such nonsense. It's all well and good to show off, but if you pull that stuff in your high school or college jazz band you'll lose everyone and the director will get pissed at you, trust me...
