Re: Alternative Bass Pedal The problem I always see with specialty equipment of any kind is that sometimes things happen and you need to substitute it with a standard. Its kinda the same reason I learned guitar and drums right handed even though I am left.
Gene Hoglan flies on the bass while using 30 year old camcos, combat boots and leg weights so I think the limitations on standard equipment have yet to be reached.
However, I'm all for innovation but a lot of times I feel that tradition has a lot to offer too. We have a tendency to make everything easier but I think it just makes us less versatile at the end of the day.
As for the pedal itself: I suppose you could get a lot of power out of it but it seems to limit your technique to heel smashing, whereas a standard pedal can be approached a great many different ways. |
