well im right handed and when i do a fill while playing open handed ive got into the habit of still starting fills with my right hand and if i finish the fill with my left hand i start the beat with my right hand and then quickly switch back to open handed, which i know sounds awkward but i find it easier than quickly moving my left hand back
if the fill has a pause before going back into the beat though i just start open handed
