Re: Need advice on Dixon drum co.

Hi.
I'm Jim Stanek, Dixon Drums product manager for KMC music. I'd like to add to what Nick posted earier. Dixon drums has been around since 1979 mainly in the International market, but was distributed for a while in the USA, by a company called Davitt & Hanser. So you may still see a lot of entry level kits like the "Duke" or I believe "Tempo", as well as a 4x13 piccolo snare drum with round turret lugs, that was very popular at the time.

Kaman has been distributing Dixon Hardware for about 10 years now, and 3 years ago Kaman Music was given the oppurtunity to offer Dixon Drums in The US market. Dixon does make their own shells in their Taiwan and China Factories, so they have control over the specs and materials that are used. The manufacturing process has not changed other than the new product that was released this year at NAMM. I work together with the factories to design the drums and hardware for the USA market. The new 2010 products are currently in stock.

Thanks for the interest and please feel free to ask questions. I look forward to learning from everyone on the forum.

Jim
