You sound exactly like I did in my first year of drummimng. That was sometime back before the sun was discovered.

You keep a good beat, you are attentive to rhythmic patterns and fills, and you obviously enjoy playing. You are on the drumming road.

In addition to Taino Jim's good advice, I was wondering if you could get a couple of half-hour lessons (you don't need hour-long lessons) playing on a practice pad while reading music. That would help you play more with your wrists and introduce you to lots of different beats. And it would give you another way to practice at home.

You're a drummer. Keep reaching out to try new things and learn new things. Stick with it, and next year's tape will show a different and better drummer, no doubt.
