Slapper, I think that a trigger system would be too inconvenient to use while playing(though it is a great idea). If you're playing fast, and you just want to raise it for only one eighth note or so, then you don't really want to be fumbling with lots of hardware. If you want it open, I guess you could lift up the hi hat manually

It would be easy enough to play without double bass too, but once again, take some getting used to.
