So when you play fast you actually hit the bass softer? Nothing wrong with that really, just have never heard of it before.

Well it might be time to invent something that will remove the resonance from the snare that is hitting the trigger. I would try some sort of thin dense foam (like memory foam) between the snare reso and the trigger somewhere (a sheild of sorts). Maybe also dampen the snare a bit?
