Well what can I say, the clinic was amazing. Steve started out with a jazzy brush number and then went into this military type snare solo. The whole evening was very informal. Anyone from the audience could go up and ask him a question. Steve honored the requests of a few audience members and played the "50 ways to leave your lover" groove, and "Foursticks." Also he went over the stickings for the "Mozambique" groove, and he showed how versatile the parradiddle rudiment was by playing many different beats around the set.
Zildjian also had a huge vault sale before the clinic. They were mainly promoting the new K line of hybrid crashes, which sound reaaaaly nice btw. Also from the new prototypes, I remember seeing some unlathed A custom rides with a Z custom style hammering, some 12in "Mini K's" and some new effects cymbal that sounded good.
Overall the night was great, I had fun meeting Gadd and getting an autograph. I caught a shirt at the "product toss," and got to see some great drumming. Also, If your ever near Portland, ME, check out the drum shop, I wet there before the clinic and was amazed to see 5,000$ DW kits right out on the floor! Also the gigantic "wall of cymbals" was one of the best selections ive seen. See you guys at the Billy Ward clinic in july!
