Re: Travis Barker He's a great time-keeper and keeps his cool, despite looking like a crazed mad-man. Definitely a skilled drummer. He may be popular, but it's for all the wrong reasons. Today we live in an era of music full of gimmicks, digital sound processing, and the absence of analog. Travis plays with a great flair of style, and people notice that more so than the music itself. The guy can definitely shred if he needs to.
I kind of feel bad for Travis; the attention he gets is wrongly merited. It's kind of how people love to bash Ringo for being the worst member of the Beatles. Sure, he may not have been a principle songwriter, but his drumming was definitely fresh for the mid-late 60s. Most people have this weird inclination where they feel like they're able to critique music without any credentials. Even when I look through Rolling Stone, I'll see a lot of bone-headed articles/reviews where the staffer really doesn't know what he/she is talking about. It's frustrating to say the least. |
