More expensive doesn't necessarily mean better. As long as a pedal is constructed well it's a case of getting to know your equipment. I had an old premier kick pedal (really old, very tatty) but it was made from strong material and after a while of playing it I knew what it was about, I knew how it responded to my playing and how my playing responded to it. As long as it'll stand up to a lot of use, it's something you shouldn't have to replace very often, if atall.
Anyway, after a while with the Premier I got a Pearl Eliminator double kick pedal for £260 (about NZD 785) and it's holding up brilliantly. Just an idea....?
Maybe the Giant Step is the Rolls-Royce, but a lot of people would prefer to drive something a lot cheaper but ultra-reliable. Gather a few opinions that describe the construction and materials objectively, if you can. It's a lot of money to spend, definitely worth making the right choice.  |
