on a few of the DW kits I have played on the heads always have a good sound to them, im not sure about the higher end kits.
but have you ever looked at a DW head, i know on the snare heads they have numbers where all the lugs go and I can only asume that they are used as a guide for tightning when you put the head on, and most of the tom heads have a great tone to them.
but still they want to put crappy heads on a the lower end kits, I wonder if that is to keep price down or if it is a drum comunity conspircy to get people to go out and buy a new set of heads almost as soon as they get a new kit
I guess we will never know.
