Re: Pearl Drums I think it could be said that whilst Pearl are still making excellent drums what they are losing is the marketing war.
Back in the 1980s and even 1990s Pearl was an aspirational brand for young drummers; there were a few cheap kits such as the Maxwin and Olympus ranges to cut your teath on but then you generally (certainly in the UK) went for a Pearl Export or a Premier kit as the first "proper, grown up" drum kit.
After that you looked at the stratospheric kits such as Tama.
Pearl had a firm grip of the mass middle market.
Nowadays Pearl have lost their position in the marketing war to Mapex, DW etc.
I still have a Pearl export and I love it. |
