| Blast beats are basically rapid alternating strokes between the snare and the bass drum and the hi-hat usually played with the bass drum. I think they're pretty cool to really dominate a song or create a forceful climax if they're played right. It's basically a wall of sound so it'd be more appropriate for styles like metal and heavy rock. |
