| No secondary rides in my current setup (not counting the 17" Paiste Dark Energy crash that is borderline rideable, for quiet passages at least). However, in the past, I've added either a flat ride or a swish cymbal, and in either case they'd be on the right side.
(For the young'uns among us, a "swish" cymbal is a larger china cymbal, often with rivets, mounted "bell up." Fairly common for big band work, and a great ride sound, especially behind the sax soli in a big band chart.)
When/if I put together or pick up a "bop" kit, I'll probably track down a thin 20" ride (or something along those lines) for use as a "left side ride" - one ride on the right, one ride on the left. |
