Ok the only set I could find available in Beech wood was the SQ2 series which is the absolute top of the line Sonor series. (aside from having a custom built one) As far as pricing goes, I'm not really sure as I'm having trouble getting a price on them. If it is the top of the line Sonor, I would assume $3500 USD is worth it. (if it's UK money ........ I have no idea) The following is from the Sonor website .....
SQ2 shell material
At the heart of the Sonor SQ2 Drum System is the concept of allowing you to create your own distinctive voice in drumming. How can individuality be achieved? Not by simply offering
different drum shells. Sonor went further and determined the most influential components that make up the final sound experience: selection of acoustic base material, shell construction and drum dimension. Given these options you can actually build your own SQ2 drum from ground up. We let you decide on every single aspect of the drum‘s construction.
"The configuration of your SQ2 drum set consists of several steps. First you determine the shell material. Four specially selected acoustic materials are available: Maple, Birch, Beech and X-Ray Acrylic. Each offers a distinctive
acoustic quality and its own dynamic range."
That's pretty much all I could find. I wish I could help more. Try looking on the Sonor website. I can tell you that if it is a top of the line model, the tag on the drum will read Sonor ....... made in Germany. If it doesn't say made in Germany ........ it's not the real deal. Good Luck!!
