You need to find out what type of wood you like the sound of and look for a kit in that. I understand you like cherry, but that's probably going to be out of your price range.

The rock-pro kit has a blend of birch and basswood. These are not going to have as much projection as (for example) maple. Plus the rock-pro only comes with wrapped laminate finishes which will also hamper your sound.

My advice would be save the little extra and for the next one up , the pro-x which at least gives you a wood grain finish, or, go for a pdp CX or MXR maple kit which should be in your range.
