Meinl MCS ride.... I have the Meinl MCS cymbals on my practice set. Here is my opinion:
Hi Hats--nice, solid....although a little quiet. This however is a benefit at home.
16" crash--I like the sound when crashed hard. Nice contrast with the 12 and 10 inch splases I usually use at home.
20"ride--took some getting used to, as I have been playing a 22" Paiste 602 and a real old 24" A. Not particularly fond of using it as a crash, and the wash during a long ride gets a little loud and boomy. All things considered, I like it a lot better than any of the other "lower end" cymbals. I use a gel to cut the boominess, and sometimes throw some chains on it for a little sizzle.
14" China---being an old guy, old school drumming, playing old rock and roll stuff mostly....I never played one before. Im not a big fan of china type cymbals, as I dont have much need for one. This came free with the cymbal pack.
All that being said..for the price, I think its a good deal. They dont sound cheap...just different than my normal stuff.
