Good children's drumset Hey guys,
I'm an amateur musician myself, mostly guitar and piano, but have never really played drums at all. My daughter really wants a drumset for her 4th birthday. I am happy to encourage any musical interest in her, so I've been looking into smaller sets appropriate for her. I want to get something that will last her until she outgrows it, assuming she stays interested, and something that is good enough quality to keep her interested. I also wouldn't mind being able to bang on it myself, maybe even record some tracks (anything's better than MIDI drum tracks). Looking at some vendors' sites online, and talking with my local drum shop, it sounds like 16" bass drum is the right scale. I've seen a 5 piece set from Ludwig for about $240 several places online. My local shop carries a 5 piece from CB kit for a similar price. I've also seen 5 piece sets from TKO and EXO for around 200. They all look like decent sets, and it doesn't seem like there are any less expensive choices that don't sacrifice quality or quantity. I would appreciate any advice you could send my way. Thanks.
