alright, so i just picked up a 5.5X14 maple DW snare, not craviatto or anything. but it's a 10 ply and i actually got it vented for more attack and volume. now i'm wondering when i crank the drum up it's ringier than anything i've ever heard for being maple. i have an emperor X snare head and a remo weatherking bottom snare head. i wanna get the tight, bright, and very poppy close to a marching snare and i'm wondering should i just throw some good ol' moon gel or is there a better way to tune it for the natural sound??? please someone good advice for tuning or just crank it and put the moon gel on it! thanks!!
