I just recently bought a book online from
www.tadrums.com just on a chance. It turns out, this book(at least for me) is a gold mine. The author is a drummer/engineer/drumtech and has written the book in a very easy to understand way. After reading through the book twice, the first time I attempted to tune my churches set of pearl brx's... it worked like a charm and the drums sound wonderful. And no damping was used. No ridiculous "boing-oing-oing" sound, just great tom sound. The author also pointed out ways to get rid of that annoy empathetic snare buzz. What a relief that was!
