Should I fix this drum?
This is a snare that blew out on me years ago and after some research I found out that Sonor made wierd size drums back in the 60's. The lugs probably won't work on a regular 14" shell (the shell size is 13 3/4"). I realize it's a pretty bad blow out but with a lot of glue and alot of clamps it just may work. There is another hairline crack on the snare side too (last pic). Am I nuts? If I could find a 60's Sonor shell that was made for 16 lugs like this one I'd probably buy it. If not I'll sell or trade the parts for some stuff to get another project started (Just finished my first custom snare-pic included below). I also have some other old Sonor parts off the toms and kick.
If anyone has any advice or just wants to tell me how stupid an idea this is, go for it! Thanks,
Todd
