http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgBlHM5TW5Q I would assume its a Yamaha snare. Very tight sound nice crack, nice projection. It sounds like a 14 x 6.5, probably maple. Can't tell though. Yamaha make awesome drums. Though not my preference.
The dynamic in a snare is determined by the shell, the hardware and the heads.( I am sure you knew this, this is for the up n commers)
Without your dimensions its impossible to suggest heads.
