Guys like this (and he is a type) never praise anyone less than those in possession of icon status. They incorrectly believe that such associations are readily transferable to themselves. In the real world we call this wishful thinking.

The Art of War, another favored reference of pseudo intellectuals. They think that they are always supposed to go on the offensive when confronted. The problem with the strategy is that you really need to read the rest of the book.
