Cool Two questions on effect cymbals

How would I go about setting up a slash cymbal on my set? I don't think I should buy a stand for it haha. Also, I am looking to buy a china cymbal as well as a new stand all for around 100 dollars (I hear wuhan makes good ones but that they break A LOT)

I think you mean a SPLASH cymbal, not a slash cymbal
I wouldn't buy a new stand for it either, theres no point in spending $80 or so for a good stand that you will be mounting a 10" piece of bronze on. There are cymbal arms, attachments that will clamp on to stands you already have to hold splash cymbals or small crashes. All hardware companies probably carry some sort. Anyway, they don't take up any floor space and are cheaper than a regular stand, so they are a good solution to your problem.
Here is a link to a Tama arm, I own this one:
Buy Tama MCA63EN Cymbal Attachment | Cymbal Holders & Hardware | Musician's Friend
There are cheaper ones from other companies.

Another option is just to buy a splash stacker. These things are basically an extension to stick onto a cymbal stand where the wing nut would normally be. Just a bit of metal. This is cheaper than buying an arm, but not quite as versatile as far as placement.
Heres a link for one:
Buy Gibraltar Mini Cymbal Stacker | Cymbal Holders & Hardware | Musician's Friend

You can probably find a used stand for $40 or so and a china for around the same price, maybe a Paiste pst3 or 5. I don't have any personal experience with Wuhan, so I can't advise you there. If you don't want a used stand, there are probably some cheap single-braced stands that are pretty cheap new. Look around.

It's just a clamp that you put around the tubing for another stand. It's like a pair of jaws that bites your stand and has a boom arm coming off of it to hold a cymbal.

Yep I agree with butter, I have a stacker for my splash and i got a boom arm with a clamp that just clamps on my other stand. As far as wuhan, stay away from em their not any good of they break alot. (and they do). All I can say is I love my 16" china high by Ziljian.

Re: Two questions on effect cymbals

Well, on the topic of Wuhan, I never had a problem with the two I used to have, but statistically that may be rare that they don't pose problems of breaking. And as for Techdeathdrummer, right on! Zildjian's china's are amazing.

Do you know exactly what you plan on getting as far as a china goes? If not, even though this is not within the $100 budget, I would suggest (as the cheapest Zildjian china) the ZBT 16". It produces good sound and is pretty versatile with different music styles. However, if you can knock your budget up just a bit I would suggest the Zildjian Oriental Trash cymbal because it is simply amazing(:

Annnd now onto the topic of the splash cymbal and mounting; like Techdeath and Butter said, it would be a good idea to get a stacker, just for the convenience of not having to do a lot of work and spend a lot of money. It's also great because if you also decide to get a boom arm to hook on another stand, you can knock two birds out with one stone and mount the china on the boom arm and the splash on the stacker.

There's my penny and a half.
